Sin City

Sorry for not posting yesterday! Had some issues with time, same goes for checking your blogs!

Yet another comic book adaptation!

plot:
"Four tales of crime adapted from Frank Miller's popular comics, focusing around a muscular brute who's looking for the person responsible for the death of his beloved Goldie, a man fed up with Sin City's corrupt law enforcement who takes the law into his own hands after a horrible mistake, a cop who risks his life to protect a girl from a deformed pedophile, and a hitman looking to make a little cash."

As you can see I tend to watch all these adaptations :) The movie is directed by Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids, Desperado, Machete). It also sports quite a casting crew, Jessica Alba, Devon Aoki, Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro and more. People have quite a shared opinion on this Frank Miller's comic book adaptation.

I'd say I'm more on the side that I agree that Rodriguez has done a good job with it. The visuals are just wonderful. The mix of black and white with certain elements of color just add another depth to the movie. It is also Very violent, some like it, some not. However, I think it was needed to transfer the original story to motion picture. I also love the trashy element of the movie! There are a few flaws with the plot and acting, which I think Rodriguez could have done better.

All in all a solid 8/10. Definitely worth watching!

Here's the trailer:

P.S. If you've got any comic book adaptation you could suggest me, please say!

edit: Oh and watching the grammys now, will give some thoughts about it tomorrow!

Due Date

Saw this a few days ago so thought I'd do a short review

So a few days ago I see the cinema at my town is showing Due Date. I thought this would be something like Hangover, but I guess I had my hopes high.

Plot:
"Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr.) must get to LA in five days to be at the birth of his firstborn. He is about to fly home from Atlanta when his luggage and wallet are sent to LA without him, and he is put on the "no-fly" list. Desperate to get home Peter is forced to accept the offer of Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis) to hitch a ride with him cross-country. Peter is about to go on the most terrifying and agonizing journey of his life."

Anyway, the movie has it's funny moment's, however has some that are really weird. A scene where Robert Downey punches a kid is kinda brutal. Zach plays his role in much a homo-erotic way and throughout the whole film you can see that Robert D. is not really comfortable with that. One of the problems is that some of the stuff that is supposed to be funny really ain't. All in all I don't really have much to say about this comedy. The script and everything has it flaws. However, you can't call it a huge fail, it has it's moments.

Overall 6/10, if you have spare time, take a look!

here's the trailer!

P.S. Yeah, I know, the movie came out in november 2010. However, my cinema (and my whole country) get's certain stuff late, so as this movie. Oh well, I can only hope for better time :)

The Prestige vs The Illusionist // Part 1

Sorry again for yesterday, almost had no access to the PC, you can also see I haven't checked any of your blogs yet :/

I will start the review with The Prestige.

plot:
"In the end of the Nineteenth Century, in London, Robert Angier, his beloved wife Julia McCullough and Alfred Borden are friends and assistants of a magician. When Julia accidentally dies during a performance, Robert blames Alfred for her death and they become enemies. Both become famous and rival magicians, sabotaging the performance of the other on the stage. When Alfred performs a successful trick, Robert becomes obsessed trying to disclose the secret of his competitor with tragic consequences. "

The movie is directed by Christopher Nolan. The number of good actors is really surprising in this film as well. The Prestige scores, Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson... and even a surprisingly good play by David Bowie as Nicola Tesla. As you can guess the story is about two competitive magicians. It would be a normal movie is they were only trying to copy each other with new tricks and stuff. However, there is so many elements added to this movie to make it interesting.

I don't want to make this a review containing spoilers because I see this movie as an experience and everyone should watch it and then get an opinion for themselves. Giving out any spoilers about The Prestige would be ridiculous. All I can say is you have to watch it! The last scene can really shock you when you figure out how some stuff worked in the movie!

I give it 8.5/10!

Tomorrow I will be doing a short review of The Illusionist and I will compare it to this movie.

How did you like the movie?

P.S. I will check all you posts a bit later! got some more stuff to do first =]

A Clockwork Orange // Mind-fuck movie request //

Haven't done this yet! A follower requested me to post a certain type of movie! Guess what? It was one of my favorite types. Pure mindfuck! Sorry for my language :)

The Life Of Bearon gave me a request to post some similar type of movie. Well here it is.

Even though some of you might think this is a cliché because it is a very popular movie, especially because it was done by Stanley Kubrick (2001 A Space Odyssey, The Shining, Lolita, Full Metal Jacket.. ). This 1971 movie is based on Anthony Burgess's disturbing novel about England in the totalitarian future, Malcolm McDowell portrays Alex, a Beethoven-loving, head-bashing punk who leads his gang of droogs on ultra-violent assaults--until he is captured by authorities and subjected to nasty behavior-modification therapy.

I rate it 9.5/10!

This is definitely a movie worth taking a look at! Among all the controversy it raised when it was released it is also the starter of cyberpunk movies, another interesting genre I like.

Here is the trailer:

Pure Mindfuck! Enjoy!

P.S. Post types of movies you would like me to post! Thanks For all the support!
