Oscars tomorrow!

Well, the title says it all! The Academy awards are to be held tomorrow!

The Oscars
All I can say is that I can't wait :) Even though because of the time difference it will be on TV at 5AM here, still going to watch it though?

Who are your favorites? Oh and who do you think will get the best motion picture award?

Here's the list:

127 Hours (2010)
Black Swan (2010)
The Fighter (2010)
Inception (2010)
The Kids Are All Right (2010)
The King's Speech (2010)
The Social Network (2010)
Toy Story 3 (2010)
True Grit (2010)
Winter's Bone (2010)

I seriously have no idea who will win the best motion picture, the choice always surprises me! However, this year there are some strong contestants indeed.

The hosts for the 2011 Oscars are James Franco and Anne Hathaway! It might even work out :)

Can't wait :) Might even do a live update =]

Anyway, for those who haven't seen it yet take a look at a post for the amazing man Christopher Lee! Sir Christopher Lee Movie Legends

Sir Christopher Lee // Movie Legends

Sir Christopher Lee is certainly one of the biggest movie legends that are still among us. With an amazing amount of 269 titles that he acted in, he only proves that even more. He was born in London, England all the way back in 1922.

As Saruman in LOTR
In some way, his trade mark is his very deep melodic voice, and the fact that he usually plays villainous characters. Another fact that makes him what he is, is that he is 6'5" , almost as tall as me! In a few interviews he mentioned that at the start of his career he could hardly find any work because he was way higher than any of the other actors, which made some difficulties to the directors.

Count Dracula
As I said, his performance list is quite impressive. Most people know him for his roles in the movies Horror of Dracula, The Mummy, The Curse of Frankenstein. Those were mostly in his early career, later on he appeared in movies such as Fu Manchu, Nothing But the Night, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, The Three Musketeers: The Queen's Diamonds, The Man with the Golden Gun. However, a lot of the younger audience knows him from his recent blockbusters that he played in, such as Star Wars prequels, where he played Count Dooku and LoTR where he had been amazing as Saruman.

Count Dooku in Star Wars
When they asked him in a interview what was his own favorite movie that he acted in he said Jinnah, which is a story about the founder of Pakistan. I still haven't seen that movie, however, I'm on the look for it wherever I go.

As Francisco Scaramanga in James Bond
Some interesting trivia facts I found on IMDB:
"During the Second World War, he served in the Royal Air Force and in British Intelligence."

"Although he has been in over 250 films, he has very rarely played a hero, having been a villain in perhaps about 85% of his films (even his bit parts lean towards the unsympathetic)"

Count Dracula
"A distant cousin and frequent golfing partner of Bond creator Ian Fleming, Lee was the author's personal pick for the role of Dr. No (1962) in the first 007 film. The part, of course, went to actor Joseph Wiseman, who was brilliant. However, fans of the literary Bond might want to check out Lee's portrayal of Chinese master criminal Fu Manchu, for an idea of how Ian Fleming himself envisioned Dr. No."

"According to his official website: He speaks French, Italian, Spanish and German and can "get along" in Swedish, Russian and Greek."

2001 Ceremony when he was titled a Sir
"As a veritable J.R.R. Tolkien expert and the only member of the cast who had met Tolkien himself, he often visited the Production department on the sets of the various "Lord of the Rings" movies to give advice and tips on the various attributes of the films."

Oh and I forgot to say, he SINGS. He even has his own symphonic metal band! And at the age of 88 he released an album! His voice is just wonderful!

I could write 10 blog posts about him but I should stop. What more to say about this legend. All I can add is that I hope his health serves him well so that we can see him in "The Hobbit" when it comes out.

P.S. Sorry for not posting it earlier, had some issues, solved them pretty much now. Will get to your posts when I come home! Enjoy

Reason for no updates for a while

There are two reasons why I haven't been posting for a while, first is my second semester at college started and the other reason is that I got sick a few days into it. So finally feeling better now and I will update the blog normally.

Sorry again for all of you who expected updates! I will make up for it :)

P.S. preparing a large post about Sir Christopher Lee and his awesomeness :) Gonna hit you up with that later!

Dead Island // Game Trailer Update

I don't usually do anything involving games but I have to say this really looks awesome :) First saw it trending on twitter so had to take a look.

It is still in development but they did a hell of a great job on the trailer :) Here is some info from there FB page!

"Dead Island combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. All of these gameplay features are presented in a dark story inspired by classic zombie movies with a gritty and engrossing campaign that can be played with up to 4 players in co-op mode."

"- first-person melee combat
- 4-player coop
- weapon customization
- set on an open world tropical island
- RPG elements for character development
- hordes of gruesome zombies
"

Heres the video! Enjoy!

11-11-11 // Trailer Update

Sorry again for not posting or blogging at all in the past few days, had a few issues that had to be solved, hopefully all is over now I can return to blogging fully =]

So today I bring you this brand new teaser trailer update of a thriller/horror movie called 11-11-11.
This is what is known of the story: "A horror-thriller set on 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month and concerning a entity from another world that enters the earthly realm through Heaven's 11th gate."

Directed by Darren Lynn (SAW II, III, IV), I'm not expecting this to be something special, although I actually thought SAW 2 and 3 were okay. I hope he does a good job with this movie. Enjoy the trailer and images!

Oh, guess when it's coming out? :)

Sin City

Sorry for not posting yesterday! Had some issues with time, same goes for checking your blogs!

Yet another comic book adaptation!

plot:
"Four tales of crime adapted from Frank Miller's popular comics, focusing around a muscular brute who's looking for the person responsible for the death of his beloved Goldie, a man fed up with Sin City's corrupt law enforcement who takes the law into his own hands after a horrible mistake, a cop who risks his life to protect a girl from a deformed pedophile, and a hitman looking to make a little cash."

As you can see I tend to watch all these adaptations :) The movie is directed by Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids, Desperado, Machete). It also sports quite a casting crew, Jessica Alba, Devon Aoki, Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro and more. People have quite a shared opinion on this Frank Miller's comic book adaptation.

I'd say I'm more on the side that I agree that Rodriguez has done a good job with it. The visuals are just wonderful. The mix of black and white with certain elements of color just add another depth to the movie. It is also Very violent, some like it, some not. However, I think it was needed to transfer the original story to motion picture. I also love the trashy element of the movie! There are a few flaws with the plot and acting, which I think Rodriguez could have done better.

All in all a solid 8/10. Definitely worth watching!

Here's the trailer:

P.S. If you've got any comic book adaptation you could suggest me, please say!

edit: Oh and watching the grammys now, will give some thoughts about it tomorrow!

Due Date

Saw this a few days ago so thought I'd do a short review

So a few days ago I see the cinema at my town is showing Due Date. I thought this would be something like Hangover, but I guess I had my hopes high.

Plot:
"Peter Highman (Robert Downey Jr.) must get to LA in five days to be at the birth of his firstborn. He is about to fly home from Atlanta when his luggage and wallet are sent to LA without him, and he is put on the "no-fly" list. Desperate to get home Peter is forced to accept the offer of Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis) to hitch a ride with him cross-country. Peter is about to go on the most terrifying and agonizing journey of his life."

Anyway, the movie has it's funny moment's, however has some that are really weird. A scene where Robert Downey punches a kid is kinda brutal. Zach plays his role in much a homo-erotic way and throughout the whole film you can see that Robert D. is not really comfortable with that. One of the problems is that some of the stuff that is supposed to be funny really ain't. All in all I don't really have much to say about this comedy. The script and everything has it flaws. However, you can't call it a huge fail, it has it's moments.

Overall 6/10, if you have spare time, take a look!

here's the trailer!

P.S. Yeah, I know, the movie came out in november 2010. However, my cinema (and my whole country) get's certain stuff late, so as this movie. Oh well, I can only hope for better time :)

X-Men: First Class // Trailer Update

Finally!

I thought I read somewhere that the trailer was released on that super bowl Sunday however it was nowhere to find. Today it has finally been released on youtube, however to reach it you need to like the facebook page (wait, what?). I guess it's just some trick to get a larger fan base or something.

Anyway the trailer reveals a part of the movie. All in all I can't say it looks bad (even though I'm repulsed at the new cast, however, they might work). It is coming out June 3, 2011. So only time can tell what will it be like :) Can't wait! =]

Enjoy!

P.S. Am I the only one finding Nicholas Hoult (Tony, Skins) weird for the role of Beast? I don't even want to mention the roles of Magneto and Xavier ^^

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Yes, half of the movie title is red but what can I do! :) The movie is quite entertaining!!

Anyway, tonight I bring you a mini review of a fun movie that came out last year. Scott Pilgrim vs The World is a movie done pretty much in a nintendo core style, meaning some elements in fight resemble to it. This is yet again another comic book adaption, however, this time is gives it justice.

plot:
"Scott Pilgrim plays in a band which aspires to success. He dates Knives Chau, a high-school girl five years younger, and he hasn't recovered from being dumped by his former girlfriend, now a success with her own band. When Scott falls for Ramona Flowers, he has trouble breaking up with Knives and tries to romance Ramona. As if juggling two women wasn't enough, Ramona comes with baggage: seven ex-lovers, with each of whom Scott must do battle to the death in order to win Ramona."

There are so many good sides to this movie. The music is exceptional! There are even some bands as Metric, LCD Soundsystem.. All of the music is pretty much alternative rock. The casting crew is okay, Michael Cera is in the lead role. I'm not much of a fan of him but I have to admit his movies were quite decent and usually entertaining. It is directed by Edgar Wright and this is the first movie I have seen of him, previously he had made Hot Fuzz, Shawn Of The Dead and a few more. Only thing is the plot and execution could have been a bit better!

Overall, the movie has great visuals, great music, it's funny and MOST important, it is inventive
I give it a 8/10! Now go watch it! :)

Bold, Red Uppercase Fonts

Pretty much what the title says, throughout some time I have learned to rather avoid these movies! Certainly some of them are fun to watch, but hardly any of them is wroth mentioning. I'd give an exception for the first Scary Movie, which I though was okay =]

Here is an image i stumbled upon a few days ago! Don't really remember the source :)

P.S. Ill be checking your posts a bit later! Busy schedule today

Captain America The First Avenger // Trailer update

Once again who hasn't seen the side to side review take a look at the two links! prestige-vs-illusionist-part-1  prestige-vs-illusionist-part-2

I know probably many blogs are talking about Captain America, but I had to do the same since the trailer was shown yesterday!
plot:
"After being deemed unfit for military service, Steve Rogers volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America's ideals. "

I think this movie doesn't need much explaining :) Most of you have read the comic book. All I can say is that the lead role is Chris Evans and it seems he fits for it. Other actors are Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci... The director is Joe Johnston, out of all that he has done probably my favorite is Jumanji!

Anyway the movie is coming out 22 july 2011! Soon! Enjoy the trailer!

The Prestige vs The Illusionist // Part 2

For those who haven't checked out the first part of this, here is the link! prestige-vs-illusionist-part-1

Today I'll be doing The Illusionist.

plot:
"A young boy falls in love with a girl that is way above his social standards along with the art of magic. Although the parents forbid them of seeing each other they cannot be split apart. Until one day they were found together and the boy was sent off. He became a magician and traveled the world. She fell in love with another man, the Crown Prince. The two got engaged but the boy, Eisenheim, finally meets back up with the girl and uses his powers to free her from the royal house in Vienna."

Directed by Neil Burger, this movie is a quite well told story involving mystery and magic. Somewhat in the movie it practically intrigues the audience and if not hypnotizes. Similar to The Prestige it has quite good actors. Maybe a bit less than it but still quite good. Edward Norton, Jessica Biel and especially Paul Giamatti do a great job portraying there actors.

Paul Giamatti
Yet again, same as with the previous movie, it is not worth giving any spoilers because they ruin the movie. All I can say is that it has quite an interesting ending, with a twist most people wouldn't expect. Some people like it some not.

I'll cite an interesting comment from a writter for The Guadian named Peter Bradshaw:
"In its unassuming way, the film shows that reality is more mystifying than illusion."

In the end, even though The Illusionist might contain some qualities The Prestige doesn't have, I still think that the second mentioned is better. The prestige is my choice out of these two. However similar they might be, in the same way they are different. What is your choice?

P.S. I have given up on morning coffee(HELL NO when it comes to real coffee, HELL YES when it comes to the firefox addon), When i press the magical button it opens 165 tabs and raised all my quad core threads to 70% and ram usage to 3.4GB. It's just a mess and too much to do at once. Ill just return back to the feed and commenting on who comments me =]

Answer about viewing the feed

For those who haven't seen it take a look at yesterday's first part of The Prestige vs The Illusionist Take a look

Anyway a few days ago I asked you guys how do you few feed from other blogs, I personally now chose to use Morning Coffee (simple addon on firefox). And I have to say my thoughts are so so. After taking me 3/4 hours to sort out all of the blogs I follow into two groups, one that are active and the other ones that aren't. After finally finishing that and pressing the morning coffee, I was kind of in shock when I found out I follow about 160 active blogs.

Later it took me 3/4 hours (or even more) just to view and comment all of those (and I've still got about 30 blogs to see). Which brought me the question? I never get that many views or even comments. There are some of you who view my posts every time and I'm grateful for that. So in the next week I will be using that addon and later I will do a re arrange again and view only the people who do the same for me.

Thanks to all of you!

Oh and, The Prestige vs The Illusionist side to side review part 2 coming later tonight or tomorrow morning!

Have a nice Saturday!

The Prestige vs The Illusionist // Part 1

Sorry again for yesterday, almost had no access to the PC, you can also see I haven't checked any of your blogs yet :/

I will start the review with The Prestige.

plot:
"In the end of the Nineteenth Century, in London, Robert Angier, his beloved wife Julia McCullough and Alfred Borden are friends and assistants of a magician. When Julia accidentally dies during a performance, Robert blames Alfred for her death and they become enemies. Both become famous and rival magicians, sabotaging the performance of the other on the stage. When Alfred performs a successful trick, Robert becomes obsessed trying to disclose the secret of his competitor with tragic consequences. "

The movie is directed by Christopher Nolan. The number of good actors is really surprising in this film as well. The Prestige scores, Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson... and even a surprisingly good play by David Bowie as Nicola Tesla. As you can guess the story is about two competitive magicians. It would be a normal movie is they were only trying to copy each other with new tricks and stuff. However, there is so many elements added to this movie to make it interesting.

I don't want to make this a review containing spoilers because I see this movie as an experience and everyone should watch it and then get an opinion for themselves. Giving out any spoilers about The Prestige would be ridiculous. All I can say is you have to watch it! The last scene can really shock you when you figure out how some stuff worked in the movie!

I give it 8.5/10!

Tomorrow I will be doing a short review of The Illusionist and I will compare it to this movie.

How did you like the movie?

P.S. I will check all you posts a bit later! got some more stuff to do first =]

No time for review today =( // The Eagle - Trailer Update

I have to disappoint all of you who were waiting for "The Illusionist vs. The Prestige" review that I was supposed to post today. Simply had no time absolutely, been all over the town today :/
Tomorrow I will have more time and make it at some point of the day.

However, I will at least post something, so I bring you a trailer for a new upcoming movie called The Eagle. The trailer looks pretty good, only thing that I find kinda weird is them choosing Channing Tatum for the lead role. As well, if I recall well I haven't really seen an "epic" movie of this type since Clash of The Titans (which was crap). Looking forward to it!

And here is the trailer:

Question/Suggestion answer!

Yesterday I asked you people which movie should I review next!

Most of you said The Prestige, however, a few of you actually said to do a side to side review of "The Prestige" and "The Illusionist". Great idea!

Only problem is that I pretty much forgot The Illusionist even though I have seen it, so I will watch it tonight again and tomorrow I bring you the side to side review! :)

Thanks for the feedback!

Heres a few images from both of the movies.

The Illusionist
The Illusionist
The Prestige
The Prestige
Both of them have some of my favorite actors too! Looking forward to this =]

Write more suggestions if you have! Thanks

Cave of Forgotten Dreams // Trailer update

When I first heard of this I thought it would be horror/thriller or something, however, I watched the trailer.

After seeing it I figured it's more of somewhat a documentary. It is about a research crew that has found a new undiscovered cave in the south of France. With drawing made 25,000 years ago. Sounds truly fascinating. From what I've heard and read, the soundtrack is pretty much fitting as well. Only down side I see in this film is that it is done in 3D. However, considering it is involving caves and large depths it might look interesting. Can't wait for it actually!

Thanks for all your great comments on my last few posts! I can see some of you really like Vancouver. Oh and about yesterdays post. I told I'm just talking about the article I found. So haven't really included any of my personal favorites! There are many villains I think should have found a place on that list. Many of you have even pointed them out =]

One more thing, I'd like you people to tell me what movie should I review next, here is a list of three. By the way, if you have any other request please say!

1. The Prestige
2. Goodfellas
3. Requiem for a Dream
