This was one of the movies I gave you to choose earlier! Transpotting got the second most votes =]
Plot:
"Renton, deeply immersed in the Edinburgh drug scene, tries to clean up and get out, despite the allure of the drugs and influence of friends."
This 1996 movie is a really shocking one! Danny Boyle (The Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, 28 Days Later, The Beach) has done a great job on directing this. He is able to touch a rough subject through firstly seeming totally on it's side and them slowly switching to a graphic and brutal look into heroin addiction. Portrayal of drug addiction is done through often funny moments. One of my favorite parts of the movie is it's soundtrack. It has a good mix of music in it. Ewan McGregor does a great job as the lead role. Other actors portrait there characters pretty good as well!
However, this is not a film for kids. At some points it is really brutal. I believe everyone should watch it.
I give it 9.2/10
Excellent!
My favorite quote from the movie:
"Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed- interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing you last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that?"
Heres the trailer:

Classic. Should be computlsory viewing. Excellent choice. xxx
ReplyDeleteI think I'll see it.
ReplyDeleteWild movie. Can't deny Danny Boyle's talent. Some say he suffers from ADHD, but I just think he has a refreshingly unique, stylistically technical command. 127 Hours proves this!

The film was great ...but the book was way cooler, once you got used to reading phonetic scotts.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason i just couldn't make it through this movie. About the part where Ewan McGregor goes into the toilet is when I stopped watching. It's odd because Danny Boyle is one of my favorite directors
ReplyDeleteCertainly one of Danny Boyle's classic gems. Your review is dead-on!
ReplyDeleteI'll check it out
ReplyDeleteGreat film, its funny and disgusting at the same time, seen it loads of time. Never try and read the book, its written in the Scottish dialect/accent and is soooo hard to read, it might as well be in Swaheli!!
ReplyDeleteNever got around to seeing this one, always forget. Slumdog was cool, though, so I'll definitely check this.
